THE alleged ringleader of a group charged with beating a man unconscious and leaving him on a Darwin City kerb has applied again for bail, with his girlfriend and co-accused turning up to support him in court.
Maea Tongamoa, 24, currently stands charged with acts intending to cause serious harm and yesterday applied for a review of a Local Court decision to deny him bail.
Crown prosecutor Cecily Hollingworth said the specific intent to cause harm is “we say, made out by the repeated bashing, kicking, punching on a hard surface.”
She also pointed out that Tongamoa’s co-accused Tayarrah Morris – who was granted bail a few weeks ago – turned up to court.
“We carry concerns that they would fail to abide by those bail conditions if Tongamoa is released,” she said.
The court was shown a video of the incident which allegedly shows Tongamoa kicking the alleged victim in the head even after he has become unconscious.
