POLICE have arrested a person allegedly responsible for a fire set outside the Palmerston Shopping Centre early today.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Bruce Payne said emergency services were alerted to a fire at the Palmerston Shopping Centre outside near Coles at about 3am on Wednesday.
“Police and fire crews attended and located a pile of pallets and associated packing material alight at the location,” he said.
“The fire was extinguished with some smoke and fire damage to the external walls of the building.
“CCTV was able to identify and track a person of interest who was subsequently arrested by police. This person is currently in custody.
“Further investigations will be carried out this morning.”

The fire was extinguished by about 5am.
