He pulled over until police arrived and asked him why he had been driving on the wrong side of the road.

“I know I’m over,” Harrower replied.

Police breath tested Harrower, who returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.343.

His licence was suspended for 12 months.

Less than a month later, Harrower was driving on Cox Peninsula Road and tried to pull over before becoming bogged on the bank.

Police attended and breath-tested Harrower who blew 0.285.

Harrower’s lawyer, Shane McMaster said his client’s drinking had “spiralled out of control” following a break-up with the mother of his young child.

In sentencing, Judge Michael Carey said Harrower’s blood-alcohol level was “a monumental reading by any stretch of the imagination”.

He was ordered to pay over $1000 in fines and disqualified from driving for two years.
