THE family of a Darwin man charged with ramming his 4WD into a Mitchell St pub on the weekend have spoken out about the fact that he remains behind bars while the other men allegedly involved walk free.

Dale Talbot, 38, appeared briefly in Darwin Local Court today – barefoot and in an orange prison jumper – after being arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning following the alleged incident.

The father-of-ten was charged on Tuesday morning with a string of offences including recklessly endangering life, dangerous driving and criminal damage.

Another two men, who police say were involved in an altercation with the alleged driver beforehand, were also charged.

The men, aged 25 and 32, were both released from custody to attend court at a later date.

It comes after a video has emerged, reportedly taken before the alleged incident, which shows a man being repeatedly kicked and punched while lying on the ground.

The NT News has been told that Mr Talbot was the man on the ground.

Mr Talbot’s daughter Genevieve, 19, told the NT News outside court that watching the video “made her sick.”

“I couldn’t really watch it. It was my father,” she said.

Another family member, Latisha Nawia, said it was unfair that Talbot remained behind bars while the other men charged over their involvement walked free.

“They get to be with their kids for Christmas this year,” she said.

“Unfortunately, Dale doesn’t.”

Talbot will return to court in January.

The other two men, who were each charged with engaging in violent conduct and public fighting will attend court on a date to be set.
