A FATHER-OF-TEN accused of ploughing his 4WD into a Darwin pub is set to be committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court and apply for bail, a court has heard.

Dale Talbot, 38, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday where a number of family members turned out to support him.

He stands charged with a string of offences including intend serious harm, recklessly endangering life, and driving in a dangerous manner.

His lawyer, Lyma Nguyen, told the court she intended to have the matter committed to stand trial in the NT Supreme Court on March 31.

She also said she would likely apply for bail on her client’s behalf on that day.

Talbot was arrested after allegedly driving his Land Cruiser through Six Tanks on Mitchell St in the early hours of December 6.

Three people, Wade Hunter, 32, Karlla Garling, 30, and Joseph Hazelbane, 32, have been charged with allegedly attacking Talbot minutes before he allegedly drove into the front door of the pub.

The trio have each been charged with engaging in violent conduct and fighting in public before police also charged them with aggravated assault late last month.

The trio’s lawyer, Peter Maley, told the Darwin Local Court while his clients still intended to plead guilty to the original charges, the aggravated assault allegations would be contested.

Talbot will return to court on March 31 and the case against the other three will return to court on April 9.
