NTFL 2022-23: Watch Darwin Buffaloes vs Waratah Round 10 livestream

Waratah retain top spot in a thrilling comeback win against a Darwin Buffaloes side full of flair. WATCH THE REPLAY.

Replay: NTFL Round 10 - Darwin Buffaloes v Waratah

Waratah remain on top of the NTFL table following a comeback win against a Darwin Buffaloes side full of flair.

The Double Blues led for the majority of the match, but the Tahs proved why they’re the side to beat in the 2022-23 season with a 17.8 (110) to 13.10 (88) win.

Waratah kicked off the match with a bang scoring almost as soon as the match had started with the prolific Jayden Magro soccering the ball through.

Arnold Kirby’s early dominance in the ruck saw Waratah surge early on and soon after they had a second goal through William Kain.

However, Buffaloes were quick to adapt to the early deficit and Jarrod Stokes, Mitch Robinson and Guy Lok soon found the edge in the midfield.

The Double Blues chipped their way into the match and bit by bit, with big contributions from Stokes and Liam Holt-Fitz they undid their early concessions to create a lead.

And while Kirby was the more experienced ruck, Sterling Mitchell found some parity in that zone and was able to generate clean ball for his teammates.

Buffs captain Stokes put in a best on ground performance in the first half using his elite pace to catch the red and whites out.

Waratah did make it easy for Buffaloes at times with indiscipline allowing players such as Lok to belt the ball through the middle posts.

However, Waratah proved they’re the NTFL’s top side for a reason and never went away, and importantly locked down Buffs’ key forward Matt Campbell.

Without Campbell’s scores Buffaloes weren’t truly able to push their advantage, and Waratah were able to keep the match close.

And in the third quarter were able to sweep back into the lead with ball-magnet Scott Carlin, tall forward Darcy Hope and the ever-dangerous Magro all booting majors.

Rob Turnbull and Brodie Carroll provided plenty of possessions to their forwards and inch by inch Waratah levelled the scores and eventually created a lead.

Buffs tried to respond but for all their efforts the Tahs defence, marshalled by Dylan Collis, locked down in a way it hadn’t managed in the first half.

Waratah amped the pressure just as Buffaloes started to dwindle and were able to pile on the scores late to seal the win and retain their spot on top of the table

“It’s great to get the win, Buffs really challenged us and were up at half time, but we really pulled them back to be up going into the final quarter,” Carlin said.

“We know teams are going to come for us, (Coach Ryan) Ayres said before the game we have to be mentally prepared and we can’t drop our heads.

“We knew Buffs like to kick short so we had to pair off and push up on them, and from there we just had to stick to our game plan and trust our system.”

LIVESTREAM PREVIEW

Darwin Buffaloes and Waratah will lock horns for the second time this season in what promises to be a thrilling match-up.

And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 4.30pm, Saturday.

Waratah had the better of this match-up last time out cruising to a 45-point win and now sit top of the table as the favourites.

But there may be some chinks in their armour with the side only barely surviving a late comeback from new team PINT in Round 9.

They’re still the form side and there’s plenty of talent set to take the field including Dylan Collis, Abe Ankers, Jayden Magro and Brodie Carroll.

The Buffaloes have put out stronger performances in recent weeks and also look destined to play finals footy.

Mitch Robinson and Jarrod Stokes combining in the midfield can be deadly for opposition sides, while Bradley Stokes and Hayden Brown know how to pile on the pressure down back.

If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream Men’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
