Police are investigating a suspicious fire in the southern suburbs that completely destroyed a home.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in the southern suburbs completely destroyed a home.

Police and emergency services were called to Southern Ave at St Marys after receiving reports a duplex unit was on fire on Friday, just after 6.30pm.

On arrival, crews found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Police said the blaze was quickly extinguished by MFS crews but the property was completely destroyed.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no reports of injuries.

Police said the fire was being treated as suspicious and investigations were continuing.

An MFS spokeswoman said the blaze had caused an estimated $150,000 worth of damage.

It comes as police investigate a separate house fire at Seaford Meadows.

Just after 4am Friday, emergency services were called to Deck Cr after reports of flames coming from a bedroom window at the front of a home.

The damage was contained to the front of the house after the blaze was extinguished.
