Flinders Ranges fatal crash victim identified as Alice Springs motorcyclist Trevor Hyman

A dad and pop has been remembered as a larrikin and hero who died doing “what he loves” after his motorbike hit a kangaroo and then slammed into a tree.

A Northern Territory man killed when the motorbike he was riding hit a kangaroo and then slammed into a tree in the Flinders Ranges has been remembered as a “larrikin” and “hero”.

Trevor Hyman was “doing what he loves” when he died at the scene of the crash at Flinders Ranges Way – 40km north of Hawker – just after 9.30am Sunday morning.

Family have paid tribute to 73-year-old from Alice Spring who was riding his Triumph motorcycle with a group before his death.

Daughter Kylie Hyman shared the tragic news with the Alice Springs Bulletin Board on Facebook.

“Our friend, larrikin, father, pop, my hero,” she wrote.

“Unfortunate accident on his motorbike this morning, but at least doing what he loves.

“Will be truly missed and loved forever.

“Please be patient with us while we come to terms with tragedy. We will have our goodbyes and celebrate his life and memories when we get him home to Alice.”

Mr Hyman’s younger sister Sue Kipin warned him not to speed in heaven.

“Even though we lived miles apart, I never stopped thinking about you big brother,” she wrote.

“Now I feel so sad as something is missing in our family.

“I am glad you lived the life you loved and wanted. Will miss our trips to Alice to see you. “Goodbye Trev and no speeding while in heaven.”

Mr Hyman’s life was the 16th lost on South Australian roads in 2024 and the fourth motorcyclist.

The road was closed for hours while Major Crash officers examined the scene but have since reopened.
