HOLDEN Commodore driver Shane van Gisbergen has charged to a seventh win of 2021 in Race 2 of the Darwin Supercars weekend at Hidden Valley Raceway.
The series leader was largely unchallenged in the second Supercars race at the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown, with Ford Mustang driver — and pole position holder — Will Davison coming in second.
It marked van Gisbergen’s third win in the Top End, his first since his title campaign in 2016, and the 47th of his career.
Davison, who scored both pole positions earlier in the day, couldn’t match van Gisbergen off the line.

The #97 Red Bull Ampol entry was into a clear lead by the end of the 440-metre run to Turn 1.
Van Gisbergen’s teammate and fellow Holden Commodore driver Jamie Whincup finished on the podium in third, 5.1s behind Davison, with Chaz Mostert in another Holden Commodore in fourth just ahead of Mark Winterbottom, also in a Holden Commodore.
