The 19-time race winner returned just minutes later to lower his own record, becoming the first Supercars driver to clock a 1:04s lap at Hidden Valley.
Davison soared to the top of the first session with a 1:05.0575s late on, usurping Shane van Gisbergen’s 1:05.3460s effort.
De Pasquale was 0.4s behind Davison in third, with Mark Winterbottom backing up his Saturday front row with fourth.
The session was immediately followed by qualifying for Race 3 of the Darwin Supercars weekend, and Davison was again in a league of his own.

The #17 Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang was incredible, with two-time Bathurst winner Davison firing in a scarcely believable 1:04.9553.
Van Gisbergen and De Pasquale were again second and third, with Whincup 0.26s back in fourth.
The flag will drop on the 38-lap Race 2 of the weekend (Race 13 of the Supercars season) at 11:55am.
Following yesterday’s unforgettable opening race of the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown, teams worked through the night to ensure everything is good to go for the remaining two more races at Hidden Valley this afternoon.
Chaz Mostert won his second race of 2021 and 15th of his career on Saturday afternoon, after avoiding a seven-car crash on the opening corner of the event.

Shell Ford’s Anton De Pasquale will be looking to rebound after his race ended before it began in the pile-up.
Earlier in the day he had broken the Darwin lap record, a record which was broken again twice by Davison in this morning’s qualifying.
Shane van Gisbergen now leads the Repco Supercars Championship by 193 points from his Red Bull teammate Jamie Whincup, while Mostert has closed the gap to just two points behind the seven-time Series Champion, 195 behind van Gisbergen.
