THE Speaker of the Northern Territory’s parliament, Kezia Purick, has suggested that Federal MP Matt Canavan should be castrated.
The independent MLA for Goyder made the controversial remarks about the Minister for Northern Australia — and fellow conservative politician — on Facebook last Thursday in response to a public post made by Labor MLA Kate Worden criticising Mr Canavan for comments he made during an ABC Darwin interview.
“I was so disappointed to hear a federal politician on local radio this morning (not a Territory representative) state he has a right to vote on Territory matters in Canberra even though his views were representative of his home in Queensland,” Ms Worden said in her Facebook post.
In reply, Ms Purick said: “Three words to say to him … green rubber ring!”
After it became apparent that Ms Worden didn’t understand what she was getting at, the Speaker spelt it out in detail.
“Kate, Kate, Kate … tiny green rubber ring used via a reversible set of pliers to surround a male lamb or kid’s testicles to cut off blood supply so they eventually drop off — AKA castration!”
Ms Worden replied with a laughing emoticon.

“Kezia you are a crack up!” she said.
“My mind was on politics not animal husbandry.”
Minister Canavan declined to comment on the matter.
This is not the first time Ms Purick has called for a Federal minister to be castrated.
Five years ago she also said that the Federal Member for Menzies Kevin Andrews — another fellow conservative — should be castrated if he came to NT.

Mr Andrews copped the spray from her on November 4, 2014 after saying that de facto couples have less stable relationships than married people.
Ms Purick took offence at the comments.
“Listen here you pooncey, pasty-faced person from some pissant place that no one cares about, half my electorate are probably in de facto relationships and they are happy, normal living people who do their very best for their families and their communities,” Ms Purick said in her Facebook post.

“Go away Kevin Andrews and if you ever come to the rural area and try to tell us how to live, three words for you, green rubber ring.”
