TERRITORY nurses and midwives have been recognised for their dedication and talent at Friday night’s 2021 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
More than 140 nominations were received across nine categories, recognising the outstanding efforts of nurses and midwives from across the Territory over the past 12 months.
The 2021 gala event recognised both finalists and overall winners for 2020 and 2021, after the 2020 awards were postponed due to COVID-19.

Matilda Starbuck from the Yuendumu Health Clinic won the New to Practice Nurse/Midwife of 2020 was and Samantha Symons from Alice Springs Hospital for 2021.
The Flinders University Award for Excellence in Nursing/Midwifery Education was Naomi Morrick from Alice Springs Hospital in 2020 and Anja Mathew from Palmerston Regional Hospital took out the 2021 award.
Julanimwu Health Centre Chronic Disease co-ordinator Heather Andrews was awarded the 2020 award for excellence in Nursing/Midwifery in Aboriginal Health. Central Australia Health Service Nurse Clinical co-ordinator Christine Becker was given the 2021 award.
