A FEMALE fisho has found herself in a nightmare scenario without even getting her lure in the water.
The unlucky angler first hooked a lure into her leg while fishing at Nhulunbuy before her dog then snagged his nose on the same lure.
Ambulance officers AND a vet were both called, with the dog having to be sedated so that paramedics could remove the hooks from the two unfortunate victims.
St John Ambulance emergency communications manager Craig Garraway said it was a bizarre incident where the dog had been sniffing around to see what had happened, before getting hooked on the same lure.

“About 11.30 we got reports of a lady who had a fish lure hooked into her leg … somehow a dog has also got that lure attached to its nose,” he said.
“Obviously the dog was a bit cranky, obviously they called paramedics to remove the hook from the lady’s leg but also trying to deal with the dog as well.”
Mr Garraway said a vet was also called to assist with the dog.
“They’ve also called a vet to sedate the dog to remove the hook, try to get the two apart,” he said.
“The dog was obviously distressed, the woman was obviously distressed, this way they could at least calm the dog, get the hook out of the dog and then the lady.

“If the dog took off, it would have torn the lure out so I think that was there concern, it would have torn a bit of skin off depending how hard we went.”
