A PEDESTRIAN tripped, and was then hit by a car near the Stuart Hwy and Bagot Rd intersection on Friday afternoon, before an altercation forced the driver to flee the scene for his safety
The incident caused the closure of the outbound lane of the Stuart Hwy.

One man reportedly tripped. and then stumbled onto the road and into a moving car, the driver of which stopped to help him.
A group from a block of nearby flats then came to the scene and began attacking the driver.
The motorist defended himself before driving to some nearby shops to call the police and ambulance.

The person who was hit, and another person who approached the driver, were taken to hospital in stable conditions.
Police have seized the car for further forensic testing.
The road has since reopened to traffic.
