A 38-year-old man and a 40-year-old man received have been summonsed to appear at Katherine Local Court on November 9 for property offences and animal cruelty offences, under the animal welfare act.

On September 19, station management reported 30 of their horses had been shot and killed.

At the time, station management told the NT News the men did not have permission to shoot in the area.

“The horses were not shot in a humane or professional manner as one would expect from members of a shooters’ association,” Killarney Station manager Jamie Laurisson

“The loss of these horses has had a massive impact on staff, management and (the) principles of Killarney station.”
