Taylor Swift Eras Tour Sydney: how to get to the concert

Taylor Swift kicks off her four Sydney shows tonight. Here’s all your questions on what to know before the show answered.

Taylor Swift fans heading to The Eras Tour in Sydney will have access to free public transport across the four massive sellout shows at Accor Stadium.

Swift will be the first artist ever to perform four concerts at Accor Stadium, with 300,000 fans expected over the four night run.

To assist, Sydney is offering free public transport as part of ticket purchase. Numbers are yet to be finalised, but Transport for NSW has confirmed hundreds of extra train and bus services will run to the area each night.

Concertgoers are being urged to leave their cars at home, with extra pressure being placed on parking infrastructure as Blink 182 performs next door at Qudos Bank Arena at the same time - resulting in additional 21,000 fans per night.

To make sure you’re prepared, here’s everything you need to know about getting to The Eras Tour in Sydney, from dates, times, parking and what public transport to get to the venue.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER GOING TO BE LIKE?

The forecast for Homebush includes a 70 per cent chance of rain on Friday when Swift’s set of Sydney shows will kick off. Make sure you pack a raincoat because Accor Stadium is only partially covered depending where you sit.

WHAT TIME DOES THE ERAS TOUR START?

The concert is over three hours and 15 minutes long. However, Swift often has surprise additions to the setlist at her shows and in some cases the Eras concert has lasted as long as 3 hours and 45 minutes.

HOW EARLY SHOULD YOU ARRIVE TO THE ERAS TOUR

Tour providers advise getting to the venue an hour before Taylor is due to take the stage. Avoiding crowds will be close to impossible, but arriving early gives you enough time to get through security, find your seat and exchange friendship bracelets with your fellow Swifties.

Sabrina Carpenter will be the opening act for the Eras Tour and will likely hit the stage at 6:30pm.

TAYLOR SWIFT MERCHANDISE

The Eras Tour crew at Accor Stadium have set up two different options to help Swifties secure their Taylor merch in an orderly fashion. Two merch presale events will take place on Wednesday, February 21 and Thursday, February 22.

Taylor Swift merchandise will be available from 10am until 6pm at the corner of Olympic Boulevard and Dawn Fraser Ave. There’s also an option to get merch on the day of the concert at external stands outside of the stadium, open from noon until after the concert. However, it’s a first come, first served basis, so get in quick.

THE BATTLE TO STOP ‘TAYLOR-GATING’

Thousands of diehard ‘Swiftie’ fans who missed out on Taylor Swift tickets are expected to flock to Sydney’s Accor Stadium to hear snippets of the sold-out shows from outside the arena. Facebook groups, such as the Sydney Swifties, have seen hundreds of fans vow to dance the night away outside the arena.

There will be no activations or screens for live concert broadcasts in the parklands surrounding Accor Stadium, in the hopes to discourage congregating in Sydney Olympic Park precinct.

HOW TO GET TO THE ERAS TOUR AT ACCOR STADIUM IN SYDNEY

Public transport is the most time-efficient way of getting to and from Accor Stadium. For Sydney concertgoers, travel on all modes of public transport is included in the cost of the ticket. Simply show your ticket to staff when boarding services. Express trains and major event buses will also be running each night.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

All tickets to Taylor Swift include entry and return travel on all public transport services including:

– Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (airport station access fee is not included).

– Sydney Metro North West Line services.

– Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses and regular route buses.

– Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Transport ferries

– Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail services

If you’re catching a train to Accor Stadium, remember that its closest station is Olympic Park which is a 10-minute walk away. For an extra treat, trains running between Central and Sydney Olympic Park Stations from Friday to Monday will be programmed to play Swift’s biggest hits.

GETTING HOME FROM THE ERAS TOUR

Express and limited-stop trains will run approximately every 10 minutes from Central and Western Line stations to Olympic Park, with frequent return services after the show.

Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run every 5 to 20 minutes between 2:45pm and 6:40pm, depending on the route. Last return bus leaves Olympic Park at midnight each night.

CAR PARKING AND ROAD CLOSURES

Driving to Accor Stadium without a pre-booked space is highly discouraged. There will be no parking available on site and an additional hour travel time is expected just to exit the car park.

Traffic will be heavier than usually on roads approaching and leaving the precinct, so if you are driving allow extra time. Make sure to keep an eye on live traffic NSW for real-time traffic updates and road closures

PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF ZONES

A dedicated drop off and pick up zone will be located on Australia Ave between Murray Rose Ave and Kevin Coombs Ave. Accessible car park shuttle services will start from 4pm on show days.

TAXI RANK AND RIDESHARES

Taxi ranks are located on Herb Elliott Ave external to the Pullman Hotel. Allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads. For ride sharing, catch public transport to the first stop outside of the precinct to be able to connect with your rideshare faster and avoid surge fares.

FOR PEOPLE NEEDING MOBILITY ASSISTANCE

Concert goers can pre-book a general parking space in advance and park their vehicle in a designated accessible parking space on the day. Accessible low floor shuttle buses from P3, P4 and P5 car parks will run from 4pm until midnight.

WHERE IS TAYLOR SWIFT RIGHT NOW?

Swift was spotted at Pellegrino 2000 in Surry Hills earlier in the week, having dinner with support act Sabrina Carpenter. The pair reportedly spent $620 on the dinner, which included focaccia, olives, and an array of small pasta dishes. They left a generous $300 tip for staff, despite tipping not being expected in Australia.
