Sydney trains will be programmed to play Taylor Swift hits as thousands of Swifties descend on Olympic Park

One city’s train network is ensuring the Tay Tay fanfare kicks off well before Taylor Swift takes the stage with a bold new move.

Taylor Swift tunes are set to keep fans entertained as they travel into Sydney Olympic Park ahead of the highly anticipated Era’s Tour, with trains getting into the Swifty spirit.

Trains running between Central and Sydney Olympic Park Stations from Friday to Monday will be programmed to play some of the international pop stars biggest hits.

NCA NewsWire understands Shake it off, Anti-Hero, I knew You Were Trouble, You Belong With Me and Cruel Summer will play during the 20-minute journey, which is only long enough for five of the artist’s songs.

It comes as authorities have urged concert goers heading to both the Era’s Tour at Accor Stadium and the Blink-182 show at nearby Qudo Bank Arena to use public transport to travel to Sydney Olympic Park.

Taylor Swift ticket holders are eligible to access free public transport across the whole network between Friday and Monday.

Transport for NSW co-ordinator general Howard Collins said the Eras Tour could be the biggest four-day event since the 2000 Olympic Games held in Sydney.

“We do expect maybe 400,000 people in this precinct,” Mr Collins said.

“We remind people that the best way to travel is by public transport.

“If you’re travelling by public transport, expect there will queues, because there will be 50,000 of you wanting to get back on the train service. But we’ll get you home safely. Take your time and enjoy the atmosphere.”

There will be an extra 550 train services running across the four days, as well as 700 extra buses.

Express and limited-stop trains will run to Olympic Park from Central and Western Line stations from midafternoon across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with return services available each night.

Buses will replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong from 1.20pm on Friday until 2am on Tuesday for those travelling from The Central Coast and Newcastle towards Sydney as trackwork repairs continue.

With temperatures set to reach 36C on Friday, Mr Collins also urged concert goers to stay safe and look after each other in the heat.

“It’s going to be hot and humid, so carry that bottled water, make sure you stay safe,” he said.

“We will do our best to try and ensure whatever the elements throw at us, we will keep our train and bus services running to get you home.”

High visibility policing operations will be conducted over the four days, and authorities urge those without ticket holds to avoid the area.
