POPULAR health and beauty retailer Priceline has left Darwin after closing the doors of its Casuarina Square premises last week.

The NT News understands Priceline’s lease of the premises recently expired, and the landlord served the pharmacy a notice to vacate after opting to lease the space to a different tenant.

A Casuarina Square spokesman said Priceline had “elected” to leave its former premises following the expiry of its lease.

However, he said a new pharmacy operator – Wizard Pharmacy – would be taking over the space, and was expected to open in December.

“Casuarina Square place great importance on providing a retail mix that meets the needs of our customers, and we are pleased to announce the arrival of Wizard Pharmacy, who will be opening in the near future,” he said.

A spokeswoman for Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API), which owns the Priceline brand, said the retailer was “disappointed” to leave Casuarina Square.

“Disappointingly the lease for Priceline, Casuarina Square has expired,” she said.

“Unfortunately the landlord has leased the space to another tenant.”

In an email sent to members last week, Priceline said “this isn’t goodbye” and encouraged customers to continue shopping with the business via their online store.
