DARWIN Festival’s opening night concert, Bungul, has been cancelled amid ongoing disruptions from the Covid-19 pandemic.

But Festival Park will now open a day earlier than planned, on Thursday August 5.

Darwin Festival Artistic Director Felix Preval said the decision to cancel Bungul had only made after all other options were exhausted.

“Bungul will have its moment in Darwin and when it does it will be incredible, it’s just taking a few years longer than planned!,” he said.

“The good news for audiences is that we will get to experience the magic of Festival Park a day earlier.”

Mr Preval said variety show Club Briefs would hold an extra showing on August 5 instead.
