One of the nation’s most well-known country singers will be back in the Top End in the coming months.
ARIA Hall-of-Famer and 14x platinum album singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers will be performing at the Darwin Convention Centre as part of her ‘Backbone Tour’.
Stoked to be coming back up north, Ms Chambers said she is excited to fall-in-love once more with the NT.
“Every time we’ve played Darwin we’ve always had fantastic shows that have been so much fun,” Ms Chambers said.
“Lots of people come out to support and meeting everybody on top of getting to travel around the beautiful NT makes the trip one of, if not my favourites.
“We’ll be in town in April, the Thursday before easter; we haven’t been in town in a few years so we’re very excited to be back.”
Chambers said the Darwin performance will not just have her new songs but many of her hits that made her.
“Darwin is part of my new album’s tour ‘Backbone’ and my new book (Just Don’t Be A D**khead) which go hand-in-hand,” she said.
“Technically that’s what the tour is about, but don’t worry, I’ll go back and play all of the old ones too.
“There are lots of artists that get bored or don’t like playing their old songs but for me, those old songs are what made me.
“I know that everybody who comes to see me loves those songs, so I’m eternally grateful I get to play them as they’re part of who I am; they played a big role in shaping me for who I am today.”
Chambers is also hopeful that those who come to see her play will get more out of the experience than if they saw her at big extravaganzas that are music festivals.
“Don’t get me wrong I love playing festivals, but there’s something so much more intimate about smaller venues and theatres,” she said.
“My hope is that those who come out and watch me play go home after a concert feeling like they know me better as a person.
“I don’t have much of a filter anyway so I usually say what’s on my mind and my music is also very personable so with that all said, I always want people to feel as if they know me once I’m done.”
