THE only accommodation within the West MacDonnell Ranges National Park, Glen Helen Lodge, will reopen next month after closing in 2020 due to impacts felt by Covid-19.
It will re-open on August 13 as Discovery Parks – Glen Helen, the first milestone in a multimillion strategy to redevelop the Red Centre property.
After being purchased by the G’day Group in May, significant work has been put into getting the property ready to welcome visitors once again.
The G’day Group has exciting plans to develop the property into an “NT tourism gem” over the coming years.
Under consideration is glamping tents, modern cabins, an infinity pool and a restaurant with a viewing deck that looks over Glen Helen Gorge.
They has since recruited about 20 staff for the property.
An extra 80 jobs will be created during the construction period in 2023 and where possible, the group will employ locals and contract local businesses.
The lodge is the latest business venture for the G’Day Group, who this year acquired Kings Canyon.
