THE company behind Darwin’s popular e-scooter and e-bike service has launched an initiative offering free return trips to riders using the vehicles to get their Covid-19 vaccine.
In a $100,000 funding commitment, Neuron Mobility is giving 10,000 of its app users the chance to ride for free in all Australian cities in which its services operate, including Darwin, to travel to their nearest vaccination centre, GP clinic or hospital for the vaccine.
Neuron Mobility chief executive Zachary Wang said the company hoped the promotion, which was launched on Friday and applies to both e-scooters and e-bikes, would encourage more Australians to get the Covid-19 jab.
“The Covid-19 pandemic is an ongoing challenge for governments around the world, including here in Australia,” he said.

“We know that increasing vaccination rates is an integral step to stopping the spread and reducing the health, social and economic impacts of the virus in our community.
“Through this initiative, we want to provide greater access to safe transport options for every Australian eligible to get vaccinated.”
He said the company especially wanted to support health workers and vulnerable community members through the initiative.
“Our healthcare workers have been at the forefront of the vaccine rollout, and we hope to play a small part in supporting their critical work,” he said.
To access a free trip, riders should download the Neuron app and follow the vaccine promotion prompts.
Eligible riders will then receive $10 worth of ride coupons in their account towards a single round trip to the vaccination centre, GP practice or hospital closest to them.
Any money remaining after the trip will stay in their account to be used on future rides.
