‘Huge loss’: Australian man Jayme Altieri killed in Philippines motorbike crash
A Perth man has been remembered as a family man with a “cheeky smile” after he died just a day before he was set to return from an overseas trip.
An Aussie “family man” has tragically died overseas in a horror motorbike accident just a day before he was set to return to Australia.
Jayme Altieri, a 41-year-old from Western Australia, died after suffering head trauma while on his way back from dinner in Bohol, a province in the Philippines, on August 18.
Mr Altieri was reportedly wearing a helmet.
His brother, Scott Altieri, told 7NEWS the death was a “massive shock and huge loss to the family”.
Mr Altieri, a FIFO rope access boilermaker born in Rockingham, is one of seven siblings.
He has been remembered as a family man with a “cheeky smile, (drinking) lots of tequila and having a good time”.
Mr Altieri spent his life travelling through North America, Europe and Asia, with his brother Scott sharing he’d gone skydiving hundreds of times.
“Whenever he had an idea in his head, you couldn’t stop him,” he told 7NEWS.
Mr Altieri was due back in Australia when the tragic accident happened, with his parents having flown to the Philippines to collect his remains.
A fundraiser has been launched to help Mr Altieri’s family following the death.
“Hey guys, sadly we have lost a friend over the weekend to a tragic motorbike accident in the Philippines,” the fundraiser states.
“Let’s pass the hat around to help jayme’s family in this tough time.”
A wake is set to be held on September 8 from 1pm at the Rockingham Naval Association.
Mr Altieri’s brother has also set up a Facebook page for people to share photos to remember his brother.
“This is a place for everyone to drop pictures, message or a story about Jayme,” he wrote on the Facebook page.
