AVO issued by NSW Police to protect Gold Logie winner Larry Emdur
The AVO was issued after a man allegedly attended the Channel 7 office in Sydney.
Gold Logie award winner Larry Emdur has had an AVO taken out to protect him just days after winning the major award.
The order has been taken out by NSW Police on behalf of Emdur against Victorian man Rodney Pearce.
NSW Police said officers were called to Network Seven’s Eveleigh office on Central Ave in Sydney’s south about 11.15am on Thursday August 22 after Mr Pearce attempted to gain access to the building.
“Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command attended and spoke with a 52-year-old man who had been escorted from the building by security,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Mr Pearce was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment before he was then taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
He was charged with trespass and possession of a prohibited drug.
Mr Pearce faced Downing Centre Local Court where he was granted conditional bail and is due to reappear on September 5.
His conditions include not entering Central Ave, the suburb of Haymarket, or within 200m of Channel 7.
The 52-year-old has also been ordered to report to Redfern Police Station daily.
Court records show the AVO in protection of Emdur is set to be mentioned in court on September 16.
The arrest came just days after Emdur took the top gong at the 2024 Logies on August 18.
In the lead up to the award show, Emdur had told multiple news outlets about his tattoo pledge, stemming from a lack of confidence he would win from his first ever Logie nomination.
After four decades on the screen, the television personality took home the top award.
But early Monday morning, Bondi Ink tattooist Zach was awaiting the Logie winner in the studio where he did the tattoo on live television.
Co-host Kylie Gillies laughed along as Emdur was inked, telling the audience: “He’s actually shaking”.
Network Seven did not comment as the matter is before the court.
