Hiker’s dramatic rescue after incident in Main Range National Park

A man has been winched to safety after experiencing a medical episode while hiking about 85km south west of Brisbane.

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew was called following reports a man fell while hiking in Main Range National Park about 2.30pm on Friday.

It’s believed the hiker, aged in his 70s, was descending the walking trail when he had a medical episode.

The LifeFlight helicopter hovered above the mountainous terrain, before a LifeFlight QAS flight paramedic was lowered to the man below.

The paramedic and patient were winched into the chopper where he was treated for minor injuries and dehydration.

The man was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
