‘Doesn’t make sense’: Aussie real estate agent turned away from hospital before Bali death

Fresh information has emerged about the heartbreaking final moments of a Sydney real estate agent who mysteriously died in Bali.

Bali cracks down on “disrespectful tourists”

Sydney real estate agent Charlie John Bradley sought medical attention at a hospital but was turned away hours before his mysterious death in Bali, according to a nurse at the facility.

Mr Bradley, 28, was found dead on the road outside the Bhakti Vendanta health clinic in north Kuta, near Denpasar, several hours after leaving Finns Beach Club on Sunday morning.

He had reportedly been out partying when he took a taxi home just after midnight, hours before his body was found only minutes away from his accommodation.

A nurse said two people had accompanied Mr Bradley to the medical centre, but that he was turned away because the on-duty doctor was off-site treating someone else at the time.

“My doctor explained by phone to the local guys that he (is) treating another emergency patient and (he) explained to move (Bradley) to another clinic or hospital,” she told 7News.

Meanwhile, Mr Bradley’s heartbroken girlfriend, Clare Stokes paid tribute to her “greatest love” who she also described as the “light of (her) life”.

“I loved loving you so damn wholeheartedly!” she wrote.

“Thankful to be dusted with your stardust. You are the brightest star in the sky!

“You are an unmatched love I will hold forever Charles.

“I would do anything to live out more laughter-filled days with you.”

She added that her partner’s unexpected death had left her with a sense of “complete emptiness”.

Earlier, Mr Bradley’s sister Beth, who lives in Adelaide where Mr Bradley grew up, took to social media on Monday to announce the tragic news to friends and family, along with a collection of photos of her beloved brother surrounded by his loving family, both as a child and an adult.

“It breaks my heart to share with you all the death of my brother Charlie,” she wrote.

“This shocking news has rocked our family entirely. Charlie was loved by so many.

“Let this be a reminder to you all that life is too short, and hug those closest to you tightly.”

In a recent revelation, Ms Bradley said she suspected methanol poisoning as the cause of death, as she was assured by his friends that he did not consume any drugs.

“Every time I’ve Googled people dying in Bali it seems to be a very similar situation, and it seems to be happening more as of late,” she told the Daily Mail Australia.

Methanol poisoning is common in Bali, and many bars pump their alcohol with ethanol to save on production costs, sometimes leading to fatal outcomes.

Methanol poisoning typically begins with early symptoms such as depression of the central nervous system, nausea, headache, dizziness, confusion, and impaired co-ordination. In cases of high dosage, unconsciousness and even death may occur.

Mr Bradley’s family is appealing to the person who reportedly recorded his final moments to come forward.

His family has been made aware of footage filmed shortly before was put into the taxi, though they have not seen it and do not know who filmed it.

“He collapsed to the ground, screamed, stood up, collapsed again screaming and then was repeatedly banging his head,” Ms Bradley told 7 News.

“My family are broken. He liked to party, but he knew his limits. All of his belongings were on him – it just doesn’t make sense.

Bali police have interviewed two witnesses, a local woman and a taxi driver who drove him to the hospital. Still, another tourist who helped carry Mr Bradley to the taxi has not been identified.

The 28-year-old had travelled to the Indonesian holiday hotspot with a friend to attend a music festival over the weekend.

His sister, Angela, started a GoFundMe page, which has raised over $45,000 to bring Bradley home.

“He had the biggest heart and personality, and everyone who had the fortune of meeting him loved him,” she wrote.

“His contagious smile, good looks and charm were only a few of his many qualities, and he will be terribly missed by so many.”

“Angela and Keith, we are all so devastated for you, and we know that there is nothing we can say that will make this unimaginable heartache better, but everybody that knows you, would love to do something for you, with this go fund me we can all ease the financial pressure and help to bring your beautiful Charlie back home from Bali.”
