Staff members rushed to help the injured woman on the ground before she was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials closed the cable car service and reopened it after carrying out extensive checks.

It was revealed the accident was caused by strong gusts, prompting a technical fault that resulted in the door opening just moments after the gondola left the substation.

The yellow cable car had the Chinese text ‘Welcome to Yandang Mountain Cableway’ printed on the window.

A man was seen seated next to the open door while apparently making a phone call to report the woman had fallen out.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
