An Australian couple have been arrested in Bali after their Pink Palace spa business was raided in Kuta as part of a crackdown on alleged illegal prostitution.

Michael Jerome Le Grand, 50, and Lynley Le Grand, 44, were shown wearing orange prison shirts and handcuffs last week.

A large sign, which once welcomed people to the spa with an image of a rooster in sunglasses and the words ‘happy coq – happy life’, was seen covered.

Police held a press conference on Friday about the arrests where the couple were lined up behind officials, alongside others arrested during the raids.

News Corp and the ABC, which have reporters on the ground, reported that police allege the venue was offering prostitution services and one staff member was underage.

It was reported that officers seized lingerie, condoms and massage oil from the Pink Palace as evidence.

Ketut Suarnaya, the deputy director of the Bali police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, said the business was offering services from about $95 to $238.

The couple’s lawyer said on Monday that Mr Le Grand had pancreatic cancer and was in need of medical attention.

“Today he will be examined by a doctor to check a serious illness and then he will apply for hospitalisation,” Joniono Rahardjo said outside the Denpasar police station, according to the Herald Sun.

The estranged wife of an ex-AFL star was also arrested last week following police raids at another venue, Flame Spa in Seminyak.

Ketut Suarnaya said police would allege the spa was offering sexual services across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Onlyfans.

Sarnanitha “Nitha” Olarenshaw, the wife of former Essendon premiership-winning player Rick Olarenshaw, was named as the business’ owner.

However, Nitha’s lawyer Donny Tri Istiqomah has claimed his client was the “victim of exploitation” from unidentified foreign citizens.

She and Mr Olarenshaw separated earlier this year and he is believed to be in Australia.
