Streamer says she can’t sue over fake porn

Twitch streamer QTCinderella has said that she’s had trouble with the legal system after attempting to sue a website that published fake porn of her.

Twitch streamer and YouTuber QTCinderella has spoken up about the inadequacies of the legal system after she couldn’t find a lawyer to file suit against a website that published fake porn depicting her.

The streamer tearfully spoke about the “deepfake” porn of her and other female streamers earlier this month, after fellow streamer Atrioc apologised for watching the content. Viewers noticed the content in one of Atrioc’s streams when he showed a list of his open windows on his PC.

QTCinderella vowed to sue the deepfake porn site hosting the content, lashing out at Atrioc, other viewers of the content, and the internet culture that allowed the content to prosper.

“To the person that made that website, I’m going to f***ing sue you,” she said at the time, “I promise you, with every part of my soul. I’m going to f***ing sue you”.

Shortly after QTCinderella’s stream, Atrioc announced he would be stepping down from streaming. He also said he would be using some of his Twitch earnings to help fund legal battles against websites that hosted the content.

In an interview with NBC News, QTCinderella said that she intended to sue the websites, but the response from lawyers familiar with the issue was “disheartening”.

“Every single lawyer I’ve talked to essentially have come to the conclusion that we don’t have a case,” she told NBC, “There’s no way to sue the guy”.

She also said that after tracking down the content and seeing it, she started experiencing body dysmorphia, and struggled to see her own body in a positive light. She described the feeling of comparing herself to a porn star, and says she cried upon realising she couldn’t look like the body featured in the video.

“When you see a porn star’s body so perfectly grafted onto where yours should be,” the streamer said, “It’s the most obvious game of comparisons that you could ever have in your life. I cried and was like ‘my body will never be like that’”.

Another streamer, Sweet Anita, also recently said in an interview with ITV News that the law was inadequate, and that even if the law was changed, it might not change anything, saying that “the law won’t change anything until the culture does”.
