Controversial streamer permanently banned
A controversial streamer has been permanently booted off major game streaming platform Twitch after announcing his move to a new competitor.
Controversial streamer Adin Ross has been permanently banned from streaming platform Twitch after announcing his move from the platform to new competitor Kick.
Ross has been banned and suspended from Twitch a number of times, as reported by Dexerto, who says this is his eighth ban in total. This time, however, the ban is reportedly permanent, and the streamer will not be able to return at any stage in the future.
No reason was given for the ban, and Twitch typically does not comment on bans. The terms of service for the platform are quite strict, however, and include a number of reasons that Ross could have been banned, such as hate speech, inappropriate content, and off-platform behaviour.
The ban came shortly after Ross caused a stir on Twitter, with a series of tweets that many have called transphobic. It also comes after the streamer made a number of controversial statements on-stream, both on Twitch and on new streaming platform Kick.
The controversial streamer showed porn on stream to his audience on the new platform, which is against Kick’s terms of service. The streamer showed the front page of a prominent porn website, with explicit content in plain view, for about ten seconds last week.
Ross seemingly did not face any repercussions for the move, despite it breaching Kick’s rules. The stream has since inspired a number of copycats, with some Twitter users documenting a number of incidents of other streamers doing the same. One Kick streamer even engaged in sexual acts live on stream, receiving a suspension of just one day for the act.
Following the permanent ban from the platform, Ross took to Kick to express his feelings on the matter, saying that he had no idea why he was banned.
“I already signed my deal to [Kick], it doesn’t matter,” he said, adding later that “everyone needs to see Twitch for what it is”. He also complained that he wouldn’t have been banned if he “had blue hair and makeup”, something that has been criticised by others after pointing out a number of streamers with exactly those traits had been banned in the past.

Ross previously clashed with fellow streamer Adriana Chechik over Twitch’s hot tub streams, in which streamers talk to their audience while in a hot tub or wearing swimwear. Ross claimed it was “poisonous” to young minds, and said that it could lead to porn addictions.
Many have cited it as evidence of hypocrisy, however, after his recent stream when he showed porn to an audience of thousands, some of which were reportedly minors.
