HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Speaking of new – congratulations are in order for another new venue in

Nightcliff – this week, Porkin’ in Aralia Street opened a new bar section within their store –

serving small plates, specialty wines (hello Pet Nat!) and local and craft beers on tap.

They will be open for drinks on New Year’s Eve – but my hot tip is to head in there on a Friday evening in the New Year, to have their paella and a glass of wine.

And what’s on for New Year’s Eve? Family friendly vibes will be high at Darwin Waterfront – they’ve promised a line-up of local talent, two fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight, a neon disco and of course the brand-new NYE themed Liquid Light show.

So, if you saw the Saltwater Spectacular, or the Christmas-themed show – it’ll be a new one again.

Kicking off from 5pm, the free family-friendly event will feature local musicians The Corbs, Liv Heyer, Melanie Gray Duo, Bob Fleet Orchestra, Stereobate, Viny Candy and Max Fredericks, before the night rounds out with DJ Patty Holiday from 9pm until midnight.

Or if you’re looking for a low key Territorian NYE, the Darwin Ski Club will see in 2024 by the water with local musicians Pixie Keenan and DJ SLV, from 5pm.

If you enjoyed the Barbie Movie in 2023 - Wharf One Food and Wine are having a Barbie party, and it will be prime viewing for Liquid Light and the fireworks displays.

If dress-up is your thing - Charlie’s of Darwin are opening a world of opulence, jazz and gin with a roaring 20s party.

Tickets include a themed cocktail on arrival, a 3-hour drinks package, and

roaming canapes – and I hear there’s even a best dressed prize … so get out your tassels. Or

check out Bustard Town, who will have local Darwin DJs playing through the night, and a Great Gatsby dress up theme.
