As Christmas Day creeps closer, Territorians are already looking forward to celebrating the end of the year in style.
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and a series of free events held in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Maningrida, and Alice Springs are set to rock the Territory simultaneously.
Each event will be tailored to each community’s culture and needs, as well as live music and food.
Katherine’s party will also feature a photo booth, kids zone, and face painting.
Tennant Creek will cool down with a pool party, circus activities, and an outdoor movie.
The streets of Alice Springs will come alive with children’s entertainment, lawn games, and a pop-up craft market.
Every event will be connected via a livestream, which will also link every area to a fireworks display at the Darwin Waterfront.
Also down on the Darwin Waterfront will be a musical festival featuring local musicians The Corbs, Liv Heyer, Melanie Gray Duo, Bob Fleet Orchestra, Stereobate, Viny Candy and Max Fredericks.
A special showcase of a New Year’s themed Liquid Light will also be on display three times that night.
Chief Minister Natasha Fyles said the celebrations would also offer a time to reflect on the “year that was” and prepare for the next.
“Events on country and in the regions will mean that there is something for everyone to enjoy at home with family and friends,” she said.
“These events will ensure that Territorians won’t miss out on bringing in the 2024 New Year in style.”
