Barbie takes over Wharf One Food and Wine for NYE

Wharf One Food and Wine are bringing in the new year Barbie-style with pink drinks, Brazilian dancers and a photo booth.

Wharf One Food & Wine is calling all Barbies, Kens and Allans alike to dance the night away at their Barbie-themed New Year’s Eve party.

The all pink party will feature Barbie-themed food, drinks, photo booth, prizes for best dressed and dance performances from Darwin’s very own Brazilian Barbies.

Owner Pina Sommerville said it was a chance for everyone to have fun.

“We’ll have roving canapes and inside will turn into a Barbie-themed nightclub room with a DJ, dancefloor, photo booth and round tables for lots of mingling,” she said.

“Our Brazilian Barbies will be going around to take photos and encouraging people to dance — they’ll also be performing too.

“We’ve got a great view of the fireworks over the water, so you can come out onto the deck for a look at midnight or look from inside too.”

This year’s event will also continue Wharf One’s tradition of hosting themed parties on New Year’s Eve.

“Every year our staff get to pick the theme and this year, they chose Barbie,” Ms Somerville said.

“Last year we did Studio 54, the year before that it was a masquerade party and then the year before that was the roaring 20s.

“So they always want to do something they can get dressed up for and because Barbie is in theme this year, it just makes sense.”

Staff member Trisha Fetallino said she was looking forward to seeing everyone’s Barbie outfits.

“It’ll be a lot of fun, I’m mostly excited to see the outfits and everyone get dressed up for the night,” she said.

Tickets cost $150pp and include a 4.5 hour drinks package from 8pm with bottomless beverages like sangria, shiraz, Great Northern Mid and Pirate Life Pale Ale.
