SINCE winning Best Pub/Bar at last year’s The City Awards, the team behind East End beer and whisky haunt NOLA has taken their successful formula to the suburbs.

The award gave owners Oliver Brown, Matthew Orman, Joshua Talbot and Alex Marshall the confidence they needed to launch their new Prospect Rd pizzeria and bar, Anchovy Bandit.

“Winning (the award) has given us that support, knowing people like the way we do things so it eased our minds going into something different,” Mr Brown says.

“It has also given us the confidence to continue doing what we’re doing and grow on the foundations we’ve already built.”

The City last week launched the awards for 2018, calling for nominations in 12 categories spanning the retail, hospitality and tourism sectors.

Backed by Adelaide City Council, the awards aim to celebrate the people and places that make the CBD and North Adelaide tick.

Mr Brown says The City Awards are a great way to recognise hardworking business owners.

“For us we had this common goal to deliver quality local produce by supporting farmers and breweries and we never went into it (business) trying to impress anyone,” he says.

“It was really good to have that pat on the back and knowing other people love supporting local business as much as we do.”

Nominations can be made at advertiser.com.au/thecityawards until Wednesday, May 30.

Finalists will be announced online on Monday, July 2.
