Unsafe balconies at Port Lincoln’s civic centre are being replaced, two years after issues were first discovered.
The council is spending $65,000 on the work, currently underway and due to be complete by the end of September.
Public access to the balconies has been restricted since late 2018 after the balustrades were identified as unsafe.
The council’s strategic projects officer, Sebastian Carr, said there was “obvious wear and tear” on the balconies, which were more than 30 years old.

He said the work would ensure the balconies were “safe for everyone”.
Mayor Brad Flaherty was pleased to see the work start.
“Repairs to the civic centre balustrades are long overdue and it will be fantastic to have the balconies functional and looking good again,” he said.
The council asked pedestrians to take care on Tasman Terrace while the work was underway.
