Jackie O Henderson’s latest photos expose funny reality
Every now and then a Aussie star does something that exposes a larger truth and gives us all what we really want.
OPINION
Jackie O Henderson has been spotted working out on her balcony in hilarious photos that reveal a universal truth.
There is nothing we like more than seeing stars doing mundane tasks.
Well, besides seeing famous people fall over, that is also a timeless classic.
The amount of money I’d pay to see Nicole Kidman dealing with being told she can’t collect her parcel from Australia Post because her identification has the wrong address is,
I’d pay an astronomical amount.
Honestly, I’d easily throw down $500 to see Richard Wilkins getting yelled out by a self-serve checkout because he forgot to scan a bag of peas.
Imagine photos of him engaged in the awkwardness of having to flag down a very busy supermarket worker while being beeped at by a rude machine that is accusing you of crime.
I’d be prepared to pay $1000 to see Karl Stefanovic experience the indignity of running for a bus, missing it, then watching the beady eyes of fellow public transporters watching him breathless as the bus drives away, leaving him coughing on its fumes.
While it’s unlikely to happen, not to sound like a semi-talented contestant on The Voice, but it is important to have dreams.
There is just something soothing about seeing celebrities going through the mundane tasks we all face daily.
Sure, they are rich, famous and beautiful, and their ex-boyfriends may be movie stars and not just some guy who didn’t pass his probation at Liquor Land, but at the end of the day, they are just like us.
Henderson was seen in activewear holding a weight with the confusion a man usually has when he is asked to carry his girlfriend’s purse as she worked out on her balcony.
At one point, she cradled the weight under her chin and closed her eyes, which is incredibly relatable. Who hasn’t closed their eyes when working out and wished they were somewhere else?
You have to wonder whether she suspected she might be photographed, given she was working out in that lazy way we all do when we think our gym crush is watching. You are technically still moving your body but want to look cute, not all red and sweaty like your skin is having a minor allergic reaction to some pollen.
Henderson’s had a big year of everyone being obsessed with her because she’s lost significant weight.
She’s always been hot, but whenever a woman’s body shrinks, we have to discuss it non-stop, and it is exhausting.
Even Henderson herself is a bit over the narrative.
“The narrative of ‘you’re prettier now because you’re skinny!’ That I don’t like at all,” she told news.com.au.
But it doesn’t end there.
“People are saying that the fact I’m on the cover of a magazine is bad. They’ll say ‘They didn’t want her when she was fat,’ and this is the wrong message to send. Like I’m only on the cover now because I’ve lost weight … but that isn’t the case.”
