Ashy Bines announces ‘shock’ closure of activewear brand

Ashy Bines, 35, is shutting down her beloved activewear line just weeks before she has major surgery, describing it as the “scariest” time in her life.

Ashy Bines has announced the shock closure of her fitness brand just months after revealing her “scary” health battle.

The fitness influencer, 35, said it was time to shut down Baseline by Ashy Bines, a “premium” activewear line which launched in January 2020, after suffering a brain aneurysm in March.

Bines’ condition, caused by an abnormal swelling or bulge in the wall of a blood vessel, had left her temporarily blind in one eye, prompting the mum-of-two to use the “wild” experience to re-asses her life.

“It’s been such a ride this past few months and my health scare made me re-evaluate everything, however I’m so grateful as I’ve learned so much about myself, about business, what I enjoy, my strengths and weaknesses and overall what I value in my life,” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.

“These last few months especially have taught me what I want more and less off and when it’s time to let go and step into my next season.

“Closing [Baseline] and a part of me is definitely sad and will miss aspects of this beautiful brand, but ALL of me knows this is the right choice for my health, wellbeing and next chapter.”

Bines also revealed she would be having brain surgery in the coming weeks following recent advice from doctors.

“Now in the lead up to my surgery (only a few weeks away), it’s busy,” she shared.

“This was definitely a hard decision but also a really easy one, when you know what you value you HAVE to honour that and go in the direction that is right for you.”

The Gold Coast influencer, who has just under 1 million followers on Instagram, previously explained her decision to go under the knife, after doctors had initially advised it was “unlikely” the aneurysm would burst due to its size.

“I KNOW I’ll be ok ok, BUT this is definitely the scariest thing I’ve gone through and will go through,” she shared last month.

“However how LUCKY am I they have found it and I can get surgery, some people like my uncle and Gran didn’t get this opportunity and left us too soon.”

Her post, titled “the end of an era”, has been met with huge reaction from fans, with many stating they were “devastated” by the announcement.

“I’m in shock. Was NOT expecting this! Your baby! Obviously it’s the right decision as health & family are more important, but I’m surprised,” one replied.

“You built something so incredible ... So excited to see all the epic things you do next and be there for you through this next chapter,” another responded.

As one wrote: “Ohh ash, sending massive hugs but also really devastated. I have never worn shorts or sports bras so comfy and also the stability in my bust is far better than anything else.”

There were some who found a silver lining in the news, sharing their joy at buying Baseline items at a heavily discounted price, as a result of a surprise stock-clearance sale.

“What sad news, but my bank balance is thrilled, I just bought 17 items,” one declared.

“Thank for including a plus size range, I love all my pieces and I’m sad but get it, I’m going to buy some now before its all gone,” another added.
