‘Scary’ reason Ashy Bines ‘lost her sight three times in the last week’
Fitness influencer Ashy Bines was rushed to hospital this week after she lost her vision three times, with doctors quick to uncover the shock cause.
A Queensland-based fitness influencer has detailed the “scary” reason she’s taking a break from social media.
Ashy Bines revealed she has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm after she was rushed to hospital for temporarily losing her sight three times in the past week.
The 35-year-old said doctors ran a variety of tests on her eyes before a CT scan revealed a small aneurysm.
An aneurysm is the abnormal swelling or bulge in the wall of a blood vessel, according to Better Health Channel. When left untreated, aneurisms can burst and result in internal bleeding or a stroke. This can sometimes be fatal.
In an emotional social media post where the mum-of-two was seen hugging her children, Taj and Tala, after being released from hospital, she revealed it’s not her first brush with the medical phenomenon.
“I’ve lost my sight three times in the last week. Decided to go to a doctor because we were starting to get worried,” she explained.
“Got a CT scan, they found a small aneurysm.
“[It’s] pretty scary as [my husband] Steve has had a huge one removed and I also have this run in my family, already lost a young uncle and a nan to an aneurysm.”
After doctors performed the scan, she said they revealed it was unlikely the aneurysm will burst due to its size, but warned she needs to return for check-ups every three months.
“I really have to slow my life, workload and stress right down,” she explained, adding she would be putting her other commitments on hold to focus on getting better.
“My focus will be more slow, allowing my team to step in more to assist and we are in the process of changing how we run out business to support me more and take some of the pressure off,” she continued.
“As much as I love everything I do I need to listen to these signs from my body that it’s gotten too much.”
Ashy said she already appreciated everything her body did for her but moments like this helped her appreciate it even more.
She said it was pretty cool that her body gave her signals that something was wrong as she wouldn’t have known without the vision loss.
Ashy also thanked her family, friends and colleagues for their support – particularly her husband who had been “so supportive”.
Thousands of Ashy’s followers rushed to the comment section to send their best wishes and hopes for a speedy search for answers.
