MODEL and David Jones ambassador Jesinta Campbell has responded to those who criticised the daring Camilla and Marc outfit she wore to the Logies on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old rocked a custom green body shirt with a wide-webbed, long sleeve dress that was cinched at the waist with a patent leather belt.

KIIS radio host Kate Langbroek wasn’t a fan of the look and on Sunday night posted a shot of Campbell to her 18,000 Instagram followers with the caption: “This cannot be for real. #logies #beachwear #desperate (for pants).”

Campbell later hit back and commented on the photo: “Woah, nasty @katelangbroek. Hope you enjoyed watching and critiquing from your couch last night.”

Langbroek replied: “That does sound mean! Sorry! Your bum was the first thing I saw ... Ps no couch. Bed”.

Campbell became a trending topic on Facebook earlier this week, with social media users weighing in on what they thought of her outfit - and not all of it was positive.

Now she’s addressed the criticism in an Instagram post explaining why she chose to wear the bold outfit.

“Fashion never really used to mean much to me until I met a young designer, Tala Raassi. She grew up in Tehran, the capital of Iran, where women don’t always have a choice in what they wear. During a swimwear fitting I asked her the reason behind her career and how she came to be a designer and work in the world of fashion,” Campbell wrote.

“At 16 years old, Tala was invited to a house party with her friends. What should have been a fun and very normal experience for any teenager was something that changed Tala’s life forever. Not long into the evening, government officials stormed into the house and arrested her alongside other guests.

“In Tahran (sic), being uncovered as a women around the opposite sex was unacceptable so she was thrown into jail for five nights then sentenced to 40 lashes, across her back, because she was wearing a skirt and a T-shirt.

“It was through this experience that Tala realised that fashion is freedom. Being able to chose what you want to wear as a woman is a freedom that not all women have access to.”

Campbell, who won Miss Universe Australia in 2010, says she is proud to work in the fashion industry, and promotes self expression and freedom of choice.

“Every day that I get I up I am grateful that I can chose whatever the hell I want to wear without the fear of punishment or violence or imprisonment,” she wrote.

“Tala, Thank you for opening my eyes to how important fashion and the freedom of choice is for all women!!”

On the Logies red carpet, the former Getaway host admitted that her fiance, Sydney Swans star Buddy Franklin, thought the dress was “a bit much”.

“Buddy said he thought this was, in his words ‘a bit much’,” she joked on Sunday night at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.

“I think he would prefer me to be fully covered from head to toe but he is always so encouraging and he Face-timed me before I walked the red carpet, which is lovely.”

Campbell said she loves Sydney-based brother and sister design duo Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman, who created the outfit. The Gold Coast native had seen the design in a shorter version before asking the designers to make it into a longer, ‘Logies version’.

“I absolutely love those two,” she said.

“I saw this in black in a shorter version and I said can we please do this for Logies. She [Camilla] sourced this fabric in Paris actually and it never got made into anything, so I feel really special tonight.”
