Logies red carpet 2016: All the sequins and stuff-ups
CARRIE Bickmore led the ranks of the best dressed at the Logies. The red carpet had its fair share of stuff-ups too.
AUSSIE stars of screen and who-knows-what have broken out their finest tulle and sequins to celebrate the 2016 TV Week Logie Awards.
While some risk streaking their spray tans and frizzing their hair on this the rainy and humid Melbourne afternoon, the challenge has been accepted.
Rebecca Judd spent all afternoon prepping for the big evening. In a snap posted on her Instagram, the wife of AFL star Chris Judd managed to get some shut eye, sleeping upright in her light blue J’Aton gown.
But she was wide awake and glowing once she hit the red carpet. And you’d never guess she was pregnant with twins. I’ve bloated more after eating a small salad.
The Project’s Carrie Bickmore has brought the sexy. The reigning Gold Logie winner and current nominee rocked the red carpet in a sheer black, geometric beaded gown. Skin tight with a high neck and sleeves, it’s equal part sexy and sophisticated.
Giving Carrie a run for her money is Jesinta Campbell. The model and TV personality smouldered in a black leotard. TOP TIP: The trick to making a tiny leotard more appropriate for a formal evening occasion is to throw a full-length, netted overlay on top. Don’t forget to cinch it all in with a patent leather belt. But really, she nailed it.
Jessica Marais also seems to have got the memo for the night: Black, sleeves and skin.
While some have opted for sequins and skin, it’s Lee Lin Chin who’s really showing the ladies how it’s done on the red carpet. It’s all about yellow for the SBS newsreader — from her button-down, to her suspenders, to her trousers, right down to her ribbon sneaker laces. She’s clearly leading the style stakes tonight. We’ll probably see Carrie Bickmore wearing something similar next year.
Channel Nine ladies Shelley Craft and Catriona Rowntree kept the drama coming with their gowns — Catriona kicking things up a notch with a boob bow. Let’s loop Sylvia Jeffreys into their squad. While reports say her Rebecca Vallance gown is green, it looks black. But is it really worth the debate?
While some may joke that Sonia Kruger looks like she got her dress caught in the paper shredder at the Mornings office, I won’t. She looks glowing in her strappy gold gown. But if anyone else wore it, that half-baked paper shredder line would apply.
Leila McKinnon went white and bright in a Carla Zampatti gown. Just when you thought cape sleeves could perhaps be the most unsexy thing you’ve ever heard of, Leila brings the hotness with a thigh-high split.
While Jennifer Hawkins usually looks chic and sleek at these events, she hasn’t quite nailed it. Weird sleeves, weird colour and weird leather panel.
Dannii Minogue rolled out of her boudoir and straight to the red carpet. The younger Minogue went sheer, with some oddly placed clumps of feathers.
If you’re easily annoyed by Delta, maybe skip to the next picture. The Voice judge was all free-flowing in a white, embellished gown that may have been borrowed from the wardrobe department at Married At First Sight. The only thing missing was a flower crown atop her loose, tousled locks.
Olympia Valance also went for sexy bride vibes.
The Real Housewives of Melbourne star and sometimes-lawyer Giana Liano is there. She’s definitely there.
But not one to be outdone, her Housewives co-star Gamble Breaux stole all the attention when she limped down the red carpet shackled with a statement chain leg brace. It’s not know if she’s been asked by reporters to sing Tina Arena’s 1994 hit Chains. If she hasn’t, it seems like a missed opportunity.
While we're in the realm of reality TV, there was a Bachelor reunion with Snez, Sam, Sasha and Sam. Let’s just zoom in on Sam Frost’s dress for a moment. She’s a lovely gal, but she never quite gets it when it comes to formal fashion. Tonight’s choice is too soft and floaty.
Representing the boys in the fashion stakes are Masterchef’s very own George Calombaris, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan. The floral printed jacket and sequined pocket square proves why they’re chefs and not store managers of a Country Road.
