The Bachelorette: Hilarious reaction to controversial move
It was the most talked-about moment during The Bachelorette premiere – and the online reactions were pretty hilarious.
Brooke Blurton’s debut as The Bachelorette featured plenty of talking points, but it was one petty stunt that really got social media fired up.
Brooke, 26, first entered The Bachelor franchise by appearing in Nick Cummins’ season in 2018, before going on to appear in Bachelor in Paradise in 2019. She is now making history as the franchise’s very first Indigenous and bisexual Bachelorette.
Carpenter Konrad, 31, is one of the contestants amid the mix of men and women vying for Brooke’s heart – and he became an early favourite by creating a “love seat” for the two of them to share.
But the planned rendezvous took a hit during the cocktail party when rival contestant Jess steered Brooke over to the chair for her own intimate moment, leaving Konrad devastated.
“I really hope that Brooke is seeing the true side of Jess with what she did – I feel like it was very calculated. She stole my first moment from me, with Brooke,” the tradie told producers afterwards.
And it wasn’t just Konrad and his fellow contestants that were outraged by Jess’ shock move – fans on Twitter quickly (and hilariously) jumped to his defence.

I immediately dislike her for taking sweet Konradâs love seat. SEND HER TO THE WOLVES. #BacheloretteAU

That was uncalled for. And definitely disrespectful. The entire mansion probably has more than a thousand possible spots to sitâ¦but they explicitly chose the one chair Konrad built. ð #BacheloretteAU

Taking Konradâs seat is a low move #BacheloretteAUpic.twitter.com/oCltpWSpF4

Konrad has the thought to pre build the parts of this chair and finish it with Brooke. Politely asks for it not to be used until he can with Brooke and this woman just steals it. Plain rude. I don't understand why you would do that.#BacheloretteAU

Konrad appeared to have the last laugh though, after being chosen by Brooke well ahead of Jess, who was left squirming in awkward anticipation until finally being given the last rose.
And it looks like the tension between the love rivals isn’t set to ease anytime soon – in a teaser for tonight’s episode, Jess is seen attempting to cut in on Konrad’s time with Brooke, sending sparks flying.
The Bachelorette continues tonight at 7.30pm on Ten.
