Bach star Alex Nation reveals why she split from fiancee
The Bachelor in Paradise star has finally revealed the reason behind her sudden split from fiancee Maegan Luxa.
Alex Nation has finally broken her silence over the end of her relationship with Maegan Luxa, revealing the whirlwind romance and engagement “was going way too fast”.
In August 2017, Nation surprised fans when she went public with her relationship with Luxa who she met on her women’s AFL team.
Nation’s romance with Luxa was all the more surprising given it happened just months after the reality star was rumoured to have split with Richie Strahan.
Strahan and Nation fell in love during the 2016 season of The Bachelor, however parted ways in mid-2017.
Following her split from Strahan, Nation’s romance with Luxa moved at a rapid pace, with the two becoming engaged in December 2017.
But by April 2018, multiple reports surfaced claiming Nation and Luxa had called off their engagement, however neither confirmed if the speculation was accurate.
Speaking to TV Week, Nation said she had “jumped the gun and owed it to myself to explore my sexuality and figure out who I am”.
Nation explained Luxa had been her first same-sex partner and her love life had been
“turned on its head when I met her”.
“When she proposed, I said yes with my whole heart. But as time went on, I thought this was going way too fast. We didn’t break up; we decided we wouldn’t be engaged, so I stopped wearing my ring,” Nation said of the demise of their romantic relationship.
“She was really amazing. She was so supportive and understanding of that because she’d been with women for all her romantic life.”
Nation will appear on Bachelor in Paradise alongside her ex Strahan, with the two having a tense confrontation over their breakup.
In a teaser video, Strahan spots Nation arriving in Fiji and reveals their breakup was “quite brutal”.
“I don’t know if Australia’s ready for the grubby details surrounding it,” he added.
Soon after she arrives at the resort the two have a face-off over their breakup, with Nation revealing: “Richie and I do not talk anymore, and I do not want to meet him in paradise. Oh my god, what have I done?”
Nation then confronts Strahan on the details surrounding their breakup, which Network 10 has confirmed will run for nine minutes, unedited and uncensored, on Bachelor in Paradise.
“You can honestly sit there and say you were perfect in our relationship,” she asks him.
Strahan fires back, “Don’t put words in my mouth” before they have it out over their issues.
Bachelor in Paradise premieres Tuesday 7.30pm on Network 10
