Bachelor exes Alex and Richie set to air dirty landry in paradise

The “brutal” circumstances behind Alex Nation and Richie Strahan’s breakup are set to be revealed in their fiery Bachelor in Paradise reunion.

Channel 10 starts by telling us, “Look who’s back for another chance at love in paradise”.

But then they hit us with the blow.

“I was obviously in a relationship with Alex and, well, the circumstances of that breakup were quite brutal,” former Bachelor RichieStrahan Strahan says in the latest Bachelor in Paradise teaser video.

“I don’t know if Australia’s ready for the grubby details surrounding it.”

Strahan will be ambushed by former flame Alex Nation in an “awkward” reunion, with both finally confirmed as appearing in the new season.

Though it has been long speculated the pair were both taking part in the 2019 Bachelor spin-off, Channel 10 had held off confirming the news until now.

Richie, 33, chose mum-of-one Alex as his winner back in 2016, but the pair left fans devastated when they split the following August.

In the new video Alex adds to the tension by telling the cameras: “Richie and I do not talk anymore and I do not want to meet him in paradise. Oh my god, what have I done?”.

Alex then confronts Richie in what appears to be a fiery exchange on the details surrounding their breakup.

“You can honestly sit there and say you were perfect in our relationship,” she asks him.

Richie fires back, “Don’t put words in my mouth” before they have it out over their issues.

Rope technician Richie shocked Bachelor fans back in 2016 when he chose Alex, 28, over fan favourite Nikki Gogan.

However the pair didn’t stand the test of time, despite their steamy on-screen chemistry — that saw them making out in a bath filled with melted chocolate.

Shortly after their breakup Alex started dating Maegan Luxa, whom she eventually became engaged to, but the pair parted ways in April last year.

In January Alex was snapped kissing a bachelor from Ali Oetjen’s season, Bill Goldsmith, sparking rumours they get together on the new show.

But an island reconciliation between Richie and Alex has got viewers more excited about the upcoming series, with many wondering if the pair will get back together on the tropical getaway.

“Omg Richie and Alex,” one fan wrote underneath the exciting announcement earlier today.

“Alex & Richie there.. awkward,” someone else commented.

“This will be interesting to see,” another said.

“Oh the drama!!!” someone else mused.

Meanwhile, others branded the decision to have them both on the series as “TV gold”.

Not everyone was excited by the announcement though.

“Not a great starting line-up,” one person said.

“Richie and Alex... oh dear,” another declared.

One fan threatened to boycott the popular dating show over the controversial move: “Don’t know if I wanna watch it now.”

Richie said he was heartbroken over the way his relationship with Alex ended, in an interview with New Idea.

“Having something wonderful dissolve the way it did was heartbreaking, but at the same time, there was a lot of relief that the emotional rollercoaster was finally over,” he admitted.

“I guess the brightest spark can fizzle fast.”

This will be Richie’s third appearance on the Bachelor franchise, after initially appearing on Sam Frost’s season of the Bachelorette where he came third.

Two other familiar faces were also confirmed as heading on the show to find love, former villains from Nick Cummins’ season, Cat Henesey and Alisha Aitken-Radburn.
