Sophie Monk opens up about her relationship with Josh Gross

After years of being unlucky in love, Sophie Monk says she’s found “the one”. And she’s more than ready for him to put a ring on it.

A little over a year ago, we collectively swooned over the meet cute tale between Sophie Monk and Joshua Gross.

A story fit for the Hollywood scripts, they were seated next to each other on a flight when they got chatting over a glass of champagne, before Sophie plucked up the courage to ask for a kiss.

Not without brushing her teeth first, of course.

It was a kiss that sparked a romance that sees the beloved TV personality “the happiest she’s ever been”, telling Stellar magazine this weekend that Josh is well and truly “the one”.

“I know this is the one. If he’s out, I give up, I really do,” she gushed.

All she’s waiting for now is a proposal, she said.

“I keep asking him, I don’t think it’s too far off. He said to me I should ask him, but no. I want for the rest of my life to know he asked me … even though I’m asking him to ask me,” she told the magazine.

Having tried and failed to meet Mr Right through The Bachelor franchise, Sophie’s search for love has long been backed by a nation.

Before her reality TV debut, she was engaged twice, first to Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, then businessman Jesse Esberg. She had also dated actor Sam Worthington and TV host Ryan Seacrest.

And as her season of The Bachelorette came to a close on our screens, her relationship with father-of four Stu Laundy had soured.

She admits to Stellar that she was starting to lose hope before Josh plonked himself beside her on a flight home from filming Love Island’s first season.

In fact, before boarding, Sophie had called her sister complaining about her single life.

“I told her I’d accepted I was going to be single, that I’d enjoy my travel and work and live through her kids,” the 39-year-old revealed.

But hours later, she was spontaneously locking lips with the handsome man beside her.

She said she “felt something” from the moment they started chatting, which is what prompted her to request a kiss.

“I’d never normally do that, but he was charming and funny and cool and smart, and when he lent in, that feeling just came over me, like butterflies,” she recalled.

When asked what they talked about, the bubbly star joked; “We talked about me. My favourite topic.”

Gross, 35, was working in Denver as a neurosurgical robotics executive, and was on a trip home to Australia.

They exchanged numbers, and four months ago, Sophie announced Josh was leaving the US to move to the Gold Coast with her.

“He’s everything I want in a person and more,” she said.

“I don’t think you could invent a better person for me. I’ve gone for something completely opposite to what I’ve ever gone for.”

“He’s a man; a grown up,” she explained.

“He’s really sweet without being annoying, and he’s calm and makes me feel safe.”

Approaching her 40th birthday, Sophie says she would love to be a mother some day.

“I want everything everyone else has. I’d love kids, though I’d probably need a nanny because I forget everything,” she joked.

Last year, Sophie shared videos of the procedure she went through to freeze her eggs after suffering from severe endometriosis.
