Sophie Monk blasted by co-star from The Hills Run Red movie

Sophie Monk has revealed what she did to deserve a profanity-laden scolding from one of her co-stars while shooting a horror movie.

Sophie Monk has revealed why she copped a tongue-lashing from her co-star on the set of a horror movie.

Monk, who was filling in for Kyle Sandilands on the KIIS FM breakfast show this morning, opened up to Jackie O about her role in a bizarre 2009 film called The Hills Run Red.

“I made out with my dad, had a baby with my dad and then ended up with my son,” Monk said. “It was a great storyline. I honestly thought I’d win an Oscar for that.”

Monk partly agreed to the role because she thought the film was being shot in Barbados, but she was less than impressed when she realised it was actually being made in Bulgaria.

“I got there and there was like anorexic dogs walking around,” she said.

Monk said the shooting environment was “depressing” because “I’m playing a role where I’m killing people in the middle of the night, freezing”.

“You don’t wake up going, ‘I can’t wait to get to work’,” she said sarcastically.

It didn’t help that Monk wasn’t exactly a hit with some of her co-stars either, which she admits was down to not learning her lines in the script.

“This guy’s chained up in one scene with a gag ball in his mouth and I can’t remember my lines,” Monk recalled. “I just remember him spitting it out and going, ‘Can you please f***ing learn your lines!’”

The Hills Run Red wasn’t exactly a hit, with one reviewer writing: “It doesn’t deviate from the typical slasher movie formula nearly as much as the filmmakers seem to think it does. It’s not particularly original, and at times, it’s borderline dumb.”

To make matters worse, Monk turned down a huge movie role in order to star in the horror film.

“My agent called me and said, ‘I’ve got two movies for you; The Hangover and The Hills Run Red’,” Monk said on KIIS FM.

“I read the script for The Hangover and it was like, they’ve locked a tiger in a bathroom, there’s a random baby there, I’m a stripper, and I’m trying not to get type cast.”

Monk passed up Heather Graham’s role in The Hangover.

Monk passed on the role that went on to be played by Heather Graham and chose to star in The Hills Run Red instead because it “had meat”.

Monk will next be seen on Aussie screens on Channel 9’s Love Island, which she is hosting for the second year in a row.
