Ruby Rose and Jess Origliasso confirm split: ‘Breakups are incredibly hard’
AFTER nearly two years together, actor Ruby Rose and Veronicas singer Jess Origliasso have sadly confirmed they’ve parted ways.
RUBY Rose has confirmed that she and girlfriend Jess Origliasso have ended their high-profile romance, after nearly two years together.
Ruby and Jess began dating in 2016 after the actor directed and starred in The Veronicas’ music video for On Your Side.
However, the pair was rumoured to have first dated in 2008, in what was believed to be an on-again, off-again relationship.
In an emotional statement on Twitter, the Pitch Perfect 3 star revealed that the former couple had finally parted ways “a few months ago”.

Given the timing of the post, fans were quick to speculate it may have been an April Fool’s Day prank.
I understand itâs âApril 1stâ but I would never use something so personal as an April fools joke.

Rumours of a split first began circulating last December, when Jess unfollowed Ruby on social media, while the actor deleted all her Instagram photos of them together.
It came just weeks after Ruby hinted at a bitter family feud between Jess and her twin sister and Veronicas bandmate, Lisa Origliasso.
It began when Lisa was forced to deny claims that she didn’t support marriage equality after Ruby took a swipe at her on Twitter for celebrating the same-sex marriage plebiscite result last year.
“So glad to see Lisa Origliasso screaming in excitement about the yes vote after telling us she thinks we should feel ‘lucky’ we don’t get stoned to death like they do in other countries and to get over it a few months ago. Really warms my heart,” Ruby wrote in the since-deleted tweet.
Lisa later responded, firmly denying that she’d ever made “intolerant statements” or held “intolerant views”.
“I did not make those statements and I do not hold those views. Sexuality has never played a factor in my acceptance of people or their relationships,” she said.
“I have and always will continue to show my unwavering support for the LGBTI community with pride and continue to celebrate love, acceptance and tolerance within our country and community.”
After news of Ruby and Jess’ romance broke in 2016, The Veronicas star spilt the details to Nova’s Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small.
“It’s me. Me and Ruby Rose. And it is our love story in this video,” she said.
“We’ve been friends for eight years. We just reconnected over doing this video. We sort of just fell in love. It’s pretty cute, honestly.
“We support each other in our careers and we support one another and be there. It made sense to be able to come out on that level because we want to be there in each other’s lives on a public level.”
Jess also explained it was all about timing.
“It’s just this crazy thing when you care about someone for so long and then you have the chance to reconnect,” she said.
