Britney Spears’ 55-hour marriage to first husband Jason Alexander

The man who has been arrested at Britney Spears’ house ahead of her wedding was previously married to the pop star for 55 hours.

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander has shown up to her house on her wedding day trying to find the pop star before being tackled to the ground outside.

He livestreamed his trespassing on Instagram just hours before the ceremony was reportedly due to begin.

Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart told Page Six Alexander was arrested and that he wanted him “aggressively prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law”.

So, who is Jason Alexander?

Alexander and Spears, both 40, were married in 2004 for less than three days.

The pair were childhood friends in their rural hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, which has a population of less than 3000.

They wed when they were 22-years-old in Las Vegas but the vows were annulled 55 hours later by a petition that stated Spears “lacked understanding of her actions”.

In an interview with ABC News in 2012, Alexander called it “bulls**t”.

He claimed Spears had invited him to Las Vegas on a private jet for New Year’s and he thought it was just a friend asking a friend to come on a trip.

He also claimed they had previously been friends “with benefits”.

Speaking of their time in Las Vegas, Alexander said Spears had asked him to marry her.

“She just came out and asked me,” he said. “She was like, ‘Well, let’s get married.’ And I was like, ‘Sure. You know, let’s do this.’”

He said he was in love with her, but when Spears’ management and mother found out about the wedding “everyone went crazy because there was no prenup”.

Last year, divorce lawyer Mark Goldberg claimed Spears’ mother, Lynne, forced the singer to annul the marriage and neither of the couple wanted to.

“It was the mother interfering in and inserting herself into her daughter’s life,” Goldberg, who Alexander had called after the annulment, told the Daily Mail.

“She came to Las Vegas, threw Jason out, and got him a plane ticket home.”

Alexander told Toxic: The Britney Spears Story podcast that the couple were told if they signed the annulment they would be able to continue their relationship and get married later on.

Alexander said the he had continued talking to Spears over the phone but exactly one month after signing, her phone stopped working.

“Literally the day after, like, the 30 days was up, I remember trying to call the number I had for Britney and it was like, ‘Beep, beep, beep,‘” he said.

“I’m like, ‘F**k, they got me! Motherf***ers!’ So that was it.”

In January, Page Six reported Alexander showed up to Spears’ mother Lynne’s estate in Kentwood late at night and posted two videos and a photo of the exterior to his private Instagram account.

Page Six said he deleted the Instagram posts after the publication of the story.

Britney Spears’ new husband

Jason Alexander showed up at Britney Spears’ mansion in Thousand Oaks, California on Thursday (local time), ahead of her wedding to 28-year-old personal trainer Sam Asghari.

The couple announced their engagement on social media in September last year.

Since then, Spears has sparked rumours they were secretly wed, referring to Asghari as her “husband” in captions on Instagram.

Spears revealed in April that she and Asghari were expecting their first child together and weeks later announced that she suffered a miscarriage.

Federline was 26 and had two children from a previous relationship.

They were married in September 2004 in a secret wedding. Guests thought they were attending an engagement party.

The couple had their first child, Sean Preston Federline, in September 2005.

Their second child, Jayden James Federline, was born in September the following year.

Spears filed for divorce in November the same year. The divorce wasn’t finalised until 2007.
