EDITOR’S PICK
Fine Lines has been creating some of Australia’s favourite bras for over 30 years. All products are designed and tested in Melbourne and they are committed to the perfect fit.
Their latest release with Aussie former model and fashion designer, Nadia Bartel, as the face of the campaign is no different. The PLUNGE collection is designed for women who want not only support in their bras but to feel confident and sexy too.
For Nadia, when it comes to feeling sexy in lingerie she tells news.com.au checkout it’s “all about confidence and feeling happy where you are within yourself.”
“So for me, it’s doing wellness or self care things that give me joy, taking time to read, going for walks, spending quality time with boys and working on things that excite me.
“When I am doing all these things, I feel I love my body more and practise more body positivity.
She also says if she were to only wear one type of bra for the rest of her life it would be a T-shirt bra.
“They are so smooth and versatile and look good under everything,” she says.
“They have good coverage and often, like the Fine Lines ones offer convertibility options like criss cross and halter which are really handy for wearing under different outfits.”

WHAT WE’RE LOVING
Support Wirefree Bralette, $59 at Nala
Tried and Tested by Philippa Tonkin, Shopping Writer
I can confidently say I have never worn a bra as comfy as this. As someone with a fairly big chest, to say I was sceptical of a wirefree bra would be an understatement. I’ve had friends and seen people online rave about how supportive they can be but the few times I’ve tried one before, the support has been next to nothing while the final look was far from flattering.
But, after seeing rave reviews about this bra online, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go.
Wow! The support is truly unreal. You’ve seriously got to try it to believe it. While I wouldn’t say it holds you in place the same way a heavy-duty sports bra or a full-cup wired bra would, it definitely is enough for me to go out in public without any qualms. Something I have never been able to do in a wirefree bra before.
And it seems I’m not the only fan of the bra, as it has hundreds of five-star reviews.
One happy customer, who wears a size 18J bra, writes, “I was sceptical about Nala after trying other wire-free styes and not getting the needed support but my Nala arrived today and it’s so, so perfect on. I have support on my back, full coverage but also still showing a bit of cleavage! Considering I’m only 23 I still feel my age which I’m so thankful for! Thank you Nala team, you’ve improved my confidence so much.”
Another bigger-busted customer writes, “Five stars from a 16H woman who hates wired bras and hasn’t found a good wirefree one until now.”
Bio High Waist Brief, $25 at Nala
Tried and Tested by Philippa Tonkin, Shopping Writer
When I first pulled these undies out of the package, I laughed because they looked exactly like what you’d picture when you think “granny undies”. I thought, “what have I done?”
But once you actually put them on, all thoughts of grandmas go out the window. They feel so incredibly soft and feature a wide folded waistband for extra comfort, flat finished legs with sheer organza elastic, a breathable cotton gusset and a mesh lining for support. If a hug could be in underwear form, this would be it.
Plus, it’s also made from the brand's sustainable bio-based fabric which is 85 per cent bio-based nylon and 15 per cent elastane.
“I have these in nearly all the colours … they sit perfectly and do not ride up,” writes one five-star review of the briefs.
Meanwhile, another writes, “These are pure heaven. Comfiest briefs I’ve ever worn.”

Tried and Tested by Melody Teh, news.com.au checkout Deputy Editor
This is my go-to bra for everyday wear and has been for the last few years. It’s the most comfortable T-shirt bra I own and I love it so much, I have it in two colours – beige and black.
This bra fits well and looks great under any piece of clothing as it doesn’t show any lines or bumps. But most importantly for me, the Berlei Barely There bra is so supportive and comfy that sometimes it feels like you’re not wearing a bra at all, which we all know is the highest of praise for bras.
I know I’m not the only one who loves these too, as the Berlei Barely There bra currently holds a 4.7 rating out of over 1200 on the Myer website. For an everyday bra that will last you, get this one – you won’t regret it!

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING LINGERIE
When looking for the right lingerie brands, from sexy lingerie to every day styles, to include in our list, we evaluated several factors:
Quality: The material and fabric used in lingerie makes a big difference to not only durability but also comfort levels too. High quality fabrics are generally more lightweight and breathable too.
Fit: Consider what types of bras actually suit your chest from full cup to bralettes, the fit of the bra is extremely important. Bras can be the same size but sit different depending on the fit.
Design: Is the design not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical? Is this piece something the modern woman would want to wear?
Size range: Gone are the days when women with cup sizes larger than a D were forced to the back corners of department stores to find something resembling a bra. These days, it is expected that brands cater to all cup sizes and design pieces for them that don’t look like something a grandma might wear.
Price range: While of course, more money does often mean better quality, we all like to know our options so we made sure to include both budget and premium brands.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF BRA DESIGNS?
There are many different designs of bras, though they don’t all enjoy the same level of popularity, era to era. The bullet bra – a full-cup bra with points at the centre of their cups – was hugely commonplace in the 1950s, then briefly again in the early 1990s (courtesy of Madonna) but are now, all but disappeared from stores. Soft cup bras, without padding or underwire, have largely been overlooked in recent decades – with push-up bras and similarly structured undergarments dominating trends – but no longer, as women are ever-increasingly turning to natural silhouettes.
WHAT IS THE COMFIEST BRA TYPE?
“Comfort is personal, but if you’re looking for the ultimate in cosy, let us introduce you to the T-shirt bra,” says Kirstin.
“It’s like a soft hug that lasts all day, thanks to its seamless design and smooth, moulded cups. Perfect under any outfit; it’s the unsung hero of the lingerie world.”
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRAS FOR DIFFERENT BREAST SHAPES?
According to Kirstin, the world of bras is wonderfully diverse. She says, “different breast shapes call for different bras”.
She continued: “For fuller busts, a balconette or full-coverage bra offers excellent support. For smaller or shallow breasts, a demi-cup or push-up can work wonders. If you have asymmetric breasts (and who doesn’t?), a bra with removable padding is your best friend. For wide-set breasts, a plunge style can bring everything front and centre.”
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY LINGERIE?
Surprisingly, Kirstin says that a well-loved bra will typically only last about six to 12 months.
She says that if you start noticing the straps losing their stretch or the band getting too stretchy, it’s probably time for a new one.
HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY LINGERIE?
“Lingerie is like a close friend – treat it carefully, and it’ll be there for you,” says Kirstin.
She recommends hand washing your bras gently in cold water with mild detergent and laying them flat to dry, or placing them in a wash bag on a delicate wash.
A quick pro tip from Kirsten: “always clip up your bras in the back to keep them in shape”.
When it comes to briefs, a delicate machine wash with your undies in a lingerie bag works perfectly.
Most importantly, Kirsten says that “no matter the temptation, don’t put your lingerie in the dryer!” According to her, “it can damage delicate fabrics and shorten their lifespan.”
HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE OF LINGERIE?
Kirstin says that it all starts with knowing your measurements – both your band and your bust.
She says that once your have those numbers, it’s all about finding styles that feel like they were made for you.
And she says to remember, “it’s okay to have different sizes for different brands or styles. The important thing is how it feels on your body.”
