When it comes to activewear, finding a quality pair of leggings can sometimes feel like a mission. You have to think about what kind of thickness you need as well as the cut and style and if they’ll stay up when you exercise.

This is why I was excited to try the cult Classic 7/8 High Waist Pocket Legging from Jaggad, a Melbourne label Australian personality Bec Judd co-founded.

On the Jaggad website, the leggings have a rating of 4.3 out of 5, from over 1000 reviews.

“These leggings are a DREAM. Not only are they comfy, fit so well and versatile- they make me feel amazing,” wrote one five-star review.

Note to readers: Jaggad is currently having a Fitness Frenzy sale with up to 70 per cent off everything. Yes, absolutely everything.

Others write that they find them “so supportive around the tummy” and that the “high waist fits nice and snug”.

I also recruited two other members of the news.com.au checkout team, all with different requirements and activity levels, to see if these leggings lived up to the hype and to help you decide if they’re right for you. Here’s what we had to say.

I need to preface this review by stating just how fussy I am when it comes to workout tights. If I have to even THINK about pulling them up during a run or re-adjust the front section because of the seams, my whole day has been ruined (sounds dramatic, but it’s true).

So with that in mind, I have to say I have now found my new favourite pair of tights.

I’m a size 10 and usually size down with leggings to ensure they’re a snug fit, however the medium in the Jaggad Classic High Waist 7/8 Leggings was perfect – firm enough to feel secure and stretchy enough to allow for movement.

And for my pocket girlies – you’ll be happy to know the side pocket is the perfect size for your phone, lip balm or, if you’re a cute asthmatic like myself, your ventolin puffer.

I’m officially converted and would definitely recommend these leggings for all types of exercise from pilates to running, to walking up to your local cafe.

When I was in Melbourne earlier this year, I noticed so many people wearing Jaggad. As someone who pretty much lives in activewear when I am not in the office, I knew I needed to get my hands on their leggings to see what all the fuss was about.

Jaggad’s classic 7/8 High Waisted Pocket Leggings are their best-selling leggings and after wearing them for a few weeks I can see why they are so popular. Featuring a high waist, these are super supportive leggings, which really hold you in. Most importantly, they pass the squat test. You really can’t see through these solid black leggings at all! I wore these leggings to the gym for my workouts, on my hot girl walks and just lounging around. Because of the thicker material which doesn’t give a huge amount of stretch, these aren’t the comfiest leggings to laze about in – they are definitely workout leggings, perfect for medium to high intensity training.

One tiny gripe for me is that although the leggings feature a left side hip pocket, it’s quite far down which just makes it difficult to grab your phone easily, especially when you’re on the run.

Other than that, these are a great pair of classic black leggings that are good quality, supportive, and fit well.

The first thing I noticed about these leggings was the feel of them. They felt different than any other pair of tights I’ve worn before. Constructed from Jaggad’s Signature High-Support Fabric, the material itself is soft but almost swimwear like. I also found them less stretchy than my usual leggings.

In terms of sizing, I did have some difficulty figuring out what size to get. Like a lot of women out there, I have a much smaller waist than I do hips which makes buying any sort of bottoms a struggle. I looked at the size chart and with my measurements, my hips were two sizes bigger than my waist. I ended up going for the bigger size because I didn’t want it to not fit around my butt and hips. I assumed the tights would be more stretchy and so it wouldn’t matter if they were big around my waist. This was not the case and I did have some gaping around my waist so I probably should have got the smaller size.

Nevertheless, I set out for my first activity in them. When walking, I found them super comfy and had no issues but when I started to run they did fall down a little. However, this was most likely due to my issue with sizing and if you manage to buy your correct size you shouldn’t have any problems.

I did really like the support the extra tightness in the tights provided and found the high-waist really flattering too.
