DJ Tigerlily has been a part of Australia’s music scene for 14 years now.

Starting out at just 18, you’ll likely know her as the blue-haired Sydney-based DJ behind popular dance tracks Invisible People (18.7 million streams on Spotify) and Pump It Up (4.4 million streams), or maybe you know her as the host behind Team Tiger Radio podcast.

In any case, DJ Tigerlily has long been synonymous with Aussie nightlife, parties and epic international festivals (Tomorrowland and Lollapalooza to name a few).

Eighteen months ago, Tigerlily, real name Dara Hayes, took on a new role – mother to her little boy, Lando. Flash to 2024 and Tigerlily now splits her time between playing on international stages to making her son’s favourite homemade pancakes.

We sat down with the music star to unpack all her latest purchases, including the ‘daggy’ household item she uses every single day. Spoiler alert: it’s her Vitamix.

WHAT PRODUCTS DOES TIGERLILY USE IN HER HAIR ROUTINE?

“For shampoo, conditioner and treatments, I use K18. I love their products. I naturally (under the wig) have bleached hair and I find K18 is really beautiful for keeping my hair regenerated and rehydrated despite the bleach, which is obviously quite damaging and drying.”

“Dyson have just released a new range of products called the Chitosan products and they’ve got a pre-styling serum and post-styling serum. I’ve been using that on my wigs and on my hair before blowdyring, Airwrapping, all of that stuff. I’m loving all of these products. I feel like it makes my hair shinier and a bit more flexible but elongates the hold through out the day.”

“I don’t like super direct hot heat so I use the Dyson Airwrap, the Dyson AirStrait and of course, the Supersonic hairdryer. And by using the Dyson products it definitely creates less damage on my hair and also the wig, because as soon as you apply heat to the wig the colour drops out. So it gives me more longevity for the colour in my wigs.”

WHAT PRODUCTS DOES TIGERLILY USE IN HER MAKE UP ROUTINE?

“My beauty is really pared back these days because I don’t really have a huge amount of time for myself like I used to. I chop and change a bit with my make up but I do have some core favourites that I constantly go to. I love a lot of Anastasia Beverly Hills products for brows.”

WHAT’S TIGERLILYS FAVOURITE ITEM IN HER HOUSE?

“This could be a great Christmas gift for a loved one … our Breville coffee maker. Oh my goodness, we have used this thing to death over the last few years, as you can imagine being young parents. It is just creme de la creme.”

“My unsexy item that I’m totally obsessed with is my Vitamix. It’s actually the best gift Scott [my husband] has ever got me bar my engagement and wedding rings. I use it everyday for soups, porridge and smoothies. I should be sponsored by Vitamix!”

WHAT’S LANDO’S FAVOURITE ITEM IN THE HOUSE?

“Earlier this year I did a collab with Fisher-Price with their range of toys called Link Squad. The Link Squad have a song that they sing when you press specific buttons on different toys and they all link up together and sing like a little choir. I was asked to remix their song and Lando loved it so much that I actually brought him into the studio and got his thoughts on it. Now it’s one of his favourite songs that he loves to listen to.”

HOW DOES A PROFESSIONAL DJ LISTEN TO MUSIC?

JBL everything, of course. I’ve got different JBL speakers in different rooms. I’ve got the pulse in the loungeroom / dining room, which is the one that lights up and is really colourful. I have that one there because Lando loves it, it gives him a little light show when I’m playing music, which is nice.”
